Inspired by the May 68 French resistance movement slogan, 'under the paving stones, the beach'. During the protests, students ripped up the cobblestones from the streets and discovered sand beneath them. The paving stones represented the rigid and oppressive power structures they were protesting, and the beach, a possible freedom, a progressive alternative.
